The San Jose Museum of Art (SJMA) has adopted the following privacy policy for the benefit of our patrons. This policy explains our information practices and the choices available to you for controlling how information about you is used. Internet and E-commerce technologies are rapidly evolving, and accordingly, this policy is subject to change; any such changes will be posted on this page. Please note that SJMA is not responsible for the content or privacy policies of web sites to which it may link, or may be linked.
What information does the SJMA Museum Store Website gather/track about you and how is it used?
Non-Personally Identifiable Information Collected Automatically
SJMA may collect information from visitors to sanjosemuseumofart.org or sjma.com that is not personally identifiable, including the visitor's operating system, browser, domain name, IP address and the specific web pages on SJMA's websites that are accessed or visited. SJMA collects this information in the aggregate for statistical analysis, and uses it to improve SJMA's websites.
Personally-Identifiable Information
Information Provided for Online Museum Store and Membership Purchases: When you make a purchase online at The Museum Store, SJMA asks you to provide the following information: your first and last name, e-mail address, billing address, shipping address, phone number, credit card payment information, and membership number, if applicable. This information is required to complete the billing process. SJMA may contact you regarding purchase information or to inform you of major changes in its services or policies. In addition, if you indicate on the billing form that you are interested in receiving further information from SJMA, SJMA may occasionally send you direct mail via e-mail and/or regular mail about Museum Store sales and special events, information about Museum membership, programs and other services that we feel may be of interest to you. For memberships purchased on-line, the following also applies. SJMA shares its membership lists with local non-profits arts organizations. Information gained through an online Museum membership is treated the same as information gained via memberships purchased through the Membership department via the phone or regular mail. Individuals or entities are given the option of not having their information shared in this manner.
SJMA also collects the following information about your online Museum Store purchases: the product name, price, date, as well as the point of entry into our site and the web page that referred you to us. SJMA uses this information to document your purchase internally and to bill you. SJMA may compile aggregate information for statistical analysis, such as to track purchasing trends.
E-mail Addresses: At times, where noted, there are areas within the SJMA websites where you may voluntarily provide your name and e-mail address for various purposes. For example, you may provide such information: to indicate that you would like to receive direct e-mail and/or regular mail about the Museum; to indicate that you would like to receive information about SJMA's education or volunteer programs; and/or as part of posting comments regarding images of Permanent Collection works. Please see those areas of the websites for more information.

You do not have to accept any of SJMA's cookies to enjoy and use the SJMA website; the rejection of cookies may, however, alter your website visit. SJMA cookies do not track your activity on the site or identify you personally.
